For businesses to truly seize the full value of AI they must radically shift their thinking to one of using AI to augment people with new abilities and pivot from the current status quo of implementing AI purely for efficiency gains. When starting to think about how they may transform their product/business to augment customers, senior leaders often face the “Faster Horses” problem. In the late 90s, it was (falsely) attributed that Henry Ford (the founder of the Ford Motor Company) said “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." but, instead he gave them the car. In this newsletter, I’m going to explore how to overcome the ‘faster horses’ problem in AI so you can deliver new value to people.
