When an action can be reversed, make undo easy, obvious, and always available, with a clear way to try again with better instructions.

The canonical emergency exit. Reversibility relieves the anxiety of acting on a system you do not yet understand, and that relief is what gives users the confidence to try an unfamiliar option instead of freezing. The corollary: irreversible steps should be rare and deliberate, because each one narrows what users are willing to attempt. 1
